"Pin Your Spin" review

New Orleans quintet Jon Cleary and the Absolute Monter Gentlemen got a monster dose of exposure last fall, when the group's soulful singer keyboardist, and leader was featured in Martin Scorcese's PBS series The Blues in performances with Van Morrison and Jeff Beck. The British-born Cleary maintains the momentum on the group's latest CD, Pin Your Spin (Basin Street Records). The funky title track also features the Crescent City's Derwin Perkins (guitar, vocal), Cornell Williams (bass, vocals), and Raymond Weber (drums), plus guest percussionist Daniel Sadownick.
